    Jacksonville Crime

A close friend of our family was the guy who was carjacked on Monday morning. It didn't seem to get much coverage and the only article I've seen it online is here at Fox30online. Anyway, 3 little punks (I heard the age of one of them is 15) pulled a gun and demanded the keys to his car and his money. All 3 had guns. They took off and ended up crashing into a couple of vehicles on the Westside and it's my understanding that 2 small children (again, not reported) were injured in one of the cars they ran into. Apparently, the parents are garbage (see the father's post on the actual article) as are these little ghetto thugs and it seems to be an epidemic in this city. I can tell you that although my confidence in JSO is increasing as they are fighting back, my confindence in our judicial system is not. What good does it do for our police to risk their lives for these "judges" to simply give these criminals light sentences. It makes me sick. What kind of message does that send? No worries, I'll be out by breakfast. These are the same people who want to cry police brutality, being victimized by the system, racism,  yet look at what is going on in this city. Not only are they commiting crimes in their own neighborhoods but "attempting" to bring it into yours and mine as well. Everyone needs to get involvevd as the quality of life will continue to be lowered if this continues. Be aware of your surroundings, get a neighborhood watch going, get a weapon if you feel comfortable doing so. Fight back.

Please lets also give the parents of these kids time in jail.  The age of accountability is here and the parents should be punished for letting their kids roam free with firearms. I personally have armed myself and will be prepared when confronted and others should do the same.  I don't advocate vigilanty justice just accountability. Angry

Absolutly!  I agree.  I also agree that we should get behind Angela Corey and watch her put our tax dollars to work FOR US.  She wants to put the criminals behind bars and keep them there.j

Please dont forget though, the reason our legal system works AT ALL is because those that do non-life threatening crimes are bargained with to TRY to rehabilitate them to keep space available for the thugs in this city that really NEED to do hard time.  If someone is caught with a small amount of drugs, they may well be released in an effort to go after the big fish (the one providing it to them).  I, too, am overwhelmed with the criminal element among us; however, we MUST stand behind our police officers and the district attorney.  WE NEED THEM TO PROSECUTE THE CRIMINALS.

Talk to your neighbors, get them involved in watching out for their neighbors.  Make them aware that THEY could save the lives of their friend next door.  THEY could spot the tag number of the DEALER that is bringing the drugs into the area.

We simply MUST stand together to get the thugs off the street or watch it turn into the slums of the criminal element.  We dont have a choice any longer.  For far too long in this country too many people have just turned a blind eye and kept their mouths closed.  IT MUST STOP!  We must speak out and turn people in for these crimes.  Our police officers risk THEIR lives EVERYDAY for us, can we not help them just ONCE?  If we all just turned in ONE thug that we know of we could clean up this city AND protect those that are trying so hard to protect us.

    Re: Jacksonville Crime

I left Florida and never looked back.  My teenage son was turning into a thug and my daughter was running away repeatedly.  They've both turned around.  In my opinion, the whole state hates kids.  They don't fund education or children's programs, and the lottery that was supposed to help was a joke from the start.  As long as the AARP (of which I am a member, too, by the way) makes all the noise, and the old folks blather about their fixed incomes and how they don't want to pay for other people's brats, nothing will change.  You put your money and time into the things you value, and, as I mentioned, in Florida that's NOT the young folks.
