Sometimes I just sit back in amazement watching us as a human race. We’re so smart, yet we are so stupid at the same time. The things we believe and the things we are taught to be true, often end up in on some page of a book of Urban legends.

I remember growing up in South Florida where when a hurricane would be coming, the news people on TV would be telling everyone what direction the wind was blowing so we could crack our windows open. Racism at Best buy at the avenues

I was shocked. Did the store manager just say that to me? No way did I hear that. I must have misunderstood. I decided well, maybe I will shrug it off a little, joke about it and see if the manager corrects what I would I heard. Instead, all the other employees started laughing at me when they noticed how upset I was becoming. They in fact laughed me out of the store. It is true, and here is the story.

Yesterday while doing a stereo install in my girlfriends car, I needed to purchase an adapter piece. I couldn't find on locally so I called best buy. I was informed that the part was available at the avenues store. I drove there, it was 9:29 when I walked in the door. I noticed this because my friend who was with me said "hey, I think they close at 9:30, but its only 9:29 so we have a minute." They are open to 10 though. I went to the car audio department, ask for help and the guy looks at me and walks away. After nearly 15 minutes someone finally comes to help. Looks up the part, goes to look for it and says "sorry, it shows we have it but I can't find it." Ok, what can I do. After a discussion and very little help, he tells me that best buy at town center has the part. Now it is like 10 to 10. I ask if he can call them for me check for the part and pull it and I can be there. "No, I can give you their number." was the answer I recieved. I ask if I can get the part number and he tells me "I'm to busy right now" and walks away. I am on the phone with a customer service girl at the other store at 10:55, they tell me they have it there but are closing, if the manager comes they can do a inventory thing and bring it to me. Great I think, let me ask the manager. I am thinking, ok, you guys messed up, here is a chance to correct the situation, make a customer happy (not a cheap 10 dollar part either mind you) make a good sale and save face. Instead I reply I am given is "no, why should I do something like that to help you?" I proceed to tell the manager why and how it would be the "right" thing to do. I don't want to say what the managers reply to that was...But it shocked me deeply.

Please, do not aide in the racism that appartly best buy breeds. Do your shopping elsewhere. Even if not for this, do it because they have the WORST customer service and do not stand behind their products.

Is Casey Anthony Innocent?

When one follows the Casey Anthony story, it is clear that everyone you run into has an opinion of her guilt or innocence. It has become a charged atmosphere in public opinion, for sure. When I first started writing about the case and some of the events surrounding it, the one thing that shocked me was the inability of most people to even consider some other ideas that have not been part of their understanding of all of it. People simply weren’t able to have honest debate about a lot of stuff that has happened surrounding the story.

Everyone points their fingers and says, “This is why Casey is guilty” and “Here are the reasons why I believe she did it.” What pops up its nefarious little head, is the fact that most all of the reasons why people say she’s guilty has nothing to do with any evidence that proves she did it. Where’s the smoking gun? Where in all this hubbub and cacophony is the proof that she did it? Now I have heard countless reasons why people think she did it, but not one of them is based in any concrete fact of proof for the public that shows it, just conjecture and self-imposed opinions that make one believe she is guilty.

People will say she did it for this reason or that. Some say that no one would react the way she did or do the things she did, after her daughter was missing. Why didn’t she react this way or why didn’t she react that way? Why did she lie? It must mean she’s guilty. People will say, if my little girl was gone, this is what I would do. All valid points based and rooted in common sense. People just have a gut feeling and that’s that. They would have never done this or they would have never done that.

However, besides amateur Murder She Wrote types, no one has produced a single piece of evidence that she did do this. There is no smoking gun. There are holes in the prosecution’s case that you could drive a giant bulldozer through and a mob-like mentality to hang Casey for sure, but no direct evidence beyond a shadow of a doubt that she did it. Any defense attorney worth anything at all could have a field day with all of this. This entire case appears to just be circumstantial and conjecture. All of it.

There are certain people who, thanks to the press and others, don’t personally like Casey and want her to burn for their own personal feelings they have for her. I even heard one guy say his wife hates Casey because she is so...

RACISM?! WHAT?!

Ok. So i'm sorry about the caps, but this is really getting to me.

If you're offended, by all means, explain why, however, please don't try to tell me this cartoon is racist. If you see racism in here, you need to examine your own motives.

First and foremost, I don't believe in PC terms. If you're American, then say so. If you're African, Chinese, Russian, or anything in between but you live or have transplanted here; PICK ONE OR THE OTHER. I don't see African-American, Chinese-American, or Jewish-American. It's pointless and causes a divide in places that are already tenuous.

I see Americans.

Secondly, however, don't deny your heritage, for it's the 'melting pot' that makes this country great, but accept the fact that you are in this country. Learn the language, attend the schools and better yourself like so many have. There is no reason to shout racism just because something 'bad' or negative happens to you. If you want to be respected, respect outwardly to others.

Now, that being said. It is EXTREMELY racist to immediately assume that not only does the chimp represent Barak Hussien Obama, but that it is indicative of a black man. It offends me that people instantly jump to the so called 'race-card' when they get upset about something.

1.) It not only doesn't say "Obama" HE DIDN'T EVEN WRITE THE BILL. 2.) It may as well HAVE been written by a group of chimps because this is something our grandchildren are going to be paying for. 3.) They aren't "assinating" a person, merely shooting a chimp equated to a person who had a primary hand in writing the stimulus package.

So, how is this defined as racism? Want the definition?

Racism –noun

1.	a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others.

2.	a policy, system of government, etc., based upon or fostering such a doctrine; discrimination.

3.	hatred or intolerance of another race or other races.

So where is the racism?

Also, if Barak does think that's him, and doesn't have a sense of humor about it, he's trying to rule the wrong country. "Dubbaya" was satirized SO MUCH WORSE than this cartoon supposedly commits and nobody said anything then... Why?? Because he's white and should be able to accept it?

It's bull, and anyone with the tiniest understanding should be able to see that. He accepted it because he was the president and was expected to take it in stride as humor. Guess what? So should every president in that case, regardless of religion, race, or creed. Sound familiar? It should.

So, now that I've said my peace, I'll leave it open to anyone to flame my post and call me racist. I work in an I.D. checking environment where I have to turn away anyone whose license or ID would be turned down by JSO. Which includes, but isn't limited to broken, expired, underage or any other issues. Does it make me racist that most of the people that have an issue such as these are black or mexican and I HAVE to turn them away? No! It's my job and I'm not jeporadizing it so someone can have a little fun.

So call me racist, call me a pig, call me by any slur you want. But remember... if you're calling someone racist, you may very well be yourself.

Jacksonville Crime

A close friend of our family was the guy who was carjacked on Monday morning. It didn't seem to get much coverage and the only article I've seen it online is here at Fox30online. Anyway, 3 little punks (I heard the age of one of them is 15) pulled a gun and demanded the keys to his car and his money. All 3 had guns.They took off and ended up crashing into a couple of vehicles on the Westside and it's my understanding that 2 small children (again, not reported) were injured in one of the cars they ran into. Apparently, the parents are garbage (see the father's post on the actual article) as are these little ghetto thugs and it seems to be an epidemic in this city. I can tell you that although my confidence in JSO is increasing as they are fighting back, my confindence in our judicial system is not. What good does it do for our police to risk their lives for these "judges" to simply give these criminals light sentences. It makes me sick. What kind of message does that send? No worries, I'll be out by breakfast. These are the same people who want to cry police brutality, being victimized by the system, racism, yet look at what is going on in this city. Not only are they commiting crimes in their own neighborhoods but "attempting" to bring it into yours and mine as well. Everyone needs to get involvevd as the quality of life will continue to be lowered if this continues. Be aware of your surroundings, get a neighborhood watch going, get a weapon if you feel comfortable doing so. Fight back.

My Safe Florida Home Inspections

The My Safe Florida Home program will meet the Florida Legislature’s goal of approving 400,000 homeowners for free wind inspections a full year ahead of schedule. The program will cease to take new applications in the next few days.

In 2007, the Florida Legislature directed the MSFH program to provide inspections for at least 400,000 site-built, single-family, residential properties and provide grants to at least 35,000 applicants before June 30, 2009. The popular first-come, first-serve program is averaging over 5,000 new sign-ups a day leading up to today’s announcement and previously met grant goals in May.

“When the Florida Legislature created the My Safe Florida Home program, their intent was to create a culture of mitigation in our state,” said CFO Alex Sink. “Almost half a million homes later, homeowners served by this program are better informed and most are better prepared for the next big storm.”

Participating homeowners received a free wind inspection report, which suggests ways homeowners can harden their homes against storm damage and informs homeowners if they are currently eligible to save money on their wind insurance premiums. To date, 58 percent of homeowners who have received a free wind inspection were eligible for discounts on their wind insurance premiums averaging $219.31 statewide. To date, the MSFH program, including local government and non-profits, has approved approximately 39,000 homeowners for mitigation grants and has paid 18,787 grants totaling more than $63.8 million.

The incident happened on the westside of Jacksonville, Florida The killers were 40,41,45 They wanted My brother to sell illegal drugs He refused then they shot him , drove the car over his body and left him laying there to die. But he die instantly he walked about 3block before he took his last breath forever. I dedication this to my devoted Mother Rosa Walker was being a role model to myself and others. Unsolved Murder of 10 year old boy; Jax FL 1968

My 10 year old brother, Glen Davenport was found murdered in Jacksonville in 1968.

On Feb. 3rd, 1968 Glen was reported as missing to the police. His body was found the next morning in the 3700 block of Mayflower St; in the Murray Hill area of Jax.

There had been a search of the lot on Mayflower St. several times throughout the night Glen was missing; the last search being at 4:00 a.m. Glen was not there during any of the searches; not even the last search at 4:00 a.m.

For his body to be found there just a few short hours later can only mean that someone put Glen or his body there sometime after the last search of the area at 4:00 a.m.

Despite the many suspicous things about Glen's disappearance and death; his death was determined and ruled to be "accidental" by the detectives and investigators and even the assistant M.E. who performed the autopsy on Glen's body.

An autopsy that was performed AFTER Glen's body has already been embalmed. Within 4 hours of being found, Glen's body was hurredly sent to be embalmed. And this was done without the REQUIRED, SIGNED release from Glen's parents for his body to be embalmed before an autopsy could be done.

40 years later, we are still seeking and fighting for justice for Glen Davenport.

There is now a youtube video that we would like people in Jacksonville to view; and then pass along for others to view. We are asking for help in getting this video circulating around Jax; and particulary in the Murray Hill area. My family no longer lives in Jax; and we are asking for the people of Jax to help us in getting this video viewed in Jax.

It is our hope that there are still people in Jax who can remember the news story about the little boy who was found "hanging" on Mayflower St. in 1968 in Jacksonville. We are hoping that there is still someone who can recall something they might have seen or heard on the night Glen was missing (Feb. 3rd) or the morning his body was found (Feb. 4th); 1968.

It is our hope and prayer that there is someone who can give new information about Glen's death.

Every night I watch the news and hear about all the crime going unsolved in Jacksonville. The JSO say they are under funded and need more police on the force. Any given day a drive down Southside Blvd, Baymadows and a lot of other areas were hard working people commute, there will be countless number of police huddled up and giving out tickets like it was christmas presents. Here's and idea...Why dont we take those huddled officers away from that dog and pony show and put them in high crime areas were the presence of these fine officers could make a difference, and just maybe crime in this great city will decline.

I feel that if the kids that feel that they can take on the responsbility of the military then they should be allowed to drink at 18. The military has serious strict rules on their own and i am pretty sure that they can and will come up for more regarding this issue. If the kids decide well okay i am going to join just so i can drink at a earlier age, are mostly likely the ones that will just flunk right out of bootcamp anyhow. The kids that i see now a days running around in high school and through town do not seem like they can handle the responsbility of it at 18. The ones that i see that are already planning for the military and know what they are getting into are showing that they can handle everything that comes there way. I am just curious on how people feel about all this?

The parent should have taken his child home, as for spanking the child, I think spankings are frequently deserved but, the gov't, in their 'infinite wisdom', (show tongue firmly in cheek, there,) has decided that they know more about child rearing than the parents.

Well, sorry, but it just isn't so... We have shootings in schools and malls, and random murders by snipers, and I blame it on the lax discipline enforced on parents by the sorry gov't that wants to take over our lives, while doing nothing for us.

When this nation falls, it will be because of such mess as this.

Give us back our country, give us back God, return the illegals to their countries of origin, and let America return to being great...

How can we be going green when our communities are chemical waste dumps

I wonder why everyone is talking going green, when all I hear about is recycle this and reducing energy use. One of the facts, either being hushed or not talked about at all, is the effect poisonous chemicals are having on Global warming and on health in general. The saturation level of, said chemicals are creating hazards in many forms. From evaporation into the air, to the run off into the waterways and aquaphor. Could this be the real cause of all the bad weather we are having? Health risks are even worse, from allergies, asthma, to adult and childhood cancers. No one seems to want to address the adverse effects on the public or the environment. Well, I think it is time someone did. I can’t believe how many public toxic exposures I see everyday, and no one is figuring it out. I witnessed a city worker using round up on sidewalk cracks. How many unsuspecting citizens walk in that? Check out how many poison in the grass placards are in grassy areas around almost every shopping mall, hospitals and clinics, hotels and neighborhood lawns. No one pays attention to them. The towering displays of poisons on shelves inside our shopping centers are a hazmat situation waiting to happen and if you choose to pay attention to where those displays are located in stores. Like the garden center entrance is almost always next to the Pharmacy ( thought we were there to get items to get well, not be exposed to health hazards), or did you ever wonder why the bottles of poison are on one shelf and Children’s toys or school supplies on the back side of it, (what is the first thing small children do with a new toy?) Most put the box in their mouth. How many toxins do you think are on it? If you can smell the chemicals in the air in the shopping area, you have already been exposed. Think about how rampant childhood cancers have become and things like A.D.D. in the past 15 to 20 years. Do you let your children and pets play on the grass, as recommended, say 24 hours after the grass in your own yard has been treated with poisons. Wonder how exposed they really have become? Did you ever hear of pets dying of Cancer back in the day? Do you know how long it takes some of these chemicals to break down in the environment? Some of these chemicals can change into other more toxic forms with exposure to heat from the sun, mixing of chemicals can occur because no one knows what the neighbor next door has used or how much. You can start ending up with toxic threats no bad guy ever could fathom. Did I mention we are willingly doing this to ourselves. Not to mention how toxic the food we eat has become. What non-organic farmers have contributed to Global warming is probably worse that the fuel emissions. Do you ever wonder what amount of the toxic chemicals used to grow our food saturates the fruits and vegetables of that harvest or how much of it we consume? I am sure that number is staggering. But we never hear about it. Why? Money, Billions the chemical companies make each year. Good incentive, but at what cost? The fact that I see people in shopping centers all the time with Food in the same shopping cart with huge bags or bottles of poison tells me people don’t get it. It boggles my mind, but I must be the only person on the planet. I wonder how toxic those peoples cupboards and refrigerators are if they put that food away without washing off the packing of their groceries. Do you know who put poison in the shopping cart you use, that you just put your infant and food in? Do people think grocery packaging is armor plated? Or their children? I hear all the time this product is wrapped. Yeah, people in cardboard or plastic. All pourous and that means it abourbs what is around it. Just like our skin, which I have heard people say they disbelieve also. I once saw a couple with a shopping cart full of bagged lawn poisons, and bottles of Roundup. Bet you can’t guess what else was in their cart on top of those toxic chemicals. Their toddler child, sucking on the bottle top of the roundup. Everytime I see things like this my hair does a slow curl, so to speak. Below you will find some links to sites that will back up much of what I have said, and for those of you who still think using these poisons is okay, I hope you finally get the fact they are toxic and also have a negative impact on everything around us. I hope this information saves others from suffering as I have. My new motto is: “Poison by any name, Pesticide, Herbicide, Insecticide is still just Poison.” Did you notice anything these three things have in common, “icide”? Guess what other word has that in it, Genicide. Look that up in the dictionary if you don’t know what it means.

Make everyday an Earth, S.P.A. day and “Stop Poisoning American.” I think we should all adopt that motto.

National Homeless Youth Awareness Month

November is National Homeless Youth Awareness Month. There are between 1.5 and 2.8 Million homeless kids in the United States. 5,000 of those kids die every year. That's 13 kids dying on the streets of this country EVERY DAY!!!

In Jacksonville, there are very few resources for homeless kids. If you're a kid under the age of 18, you can't even get into a shelter or a soup kitchen!

StandUp For Kids and Virgin Mobile are teaming up to try to raise awareness for the problems that homeless kids face. Please add your voice to the call to end homelessness for kids by going to:

And please come to the Jacksonville Landing on Saturday, November 10th from 11 AM to 3 PM to support StandUp for Kids here in Jacksonville. If you have any old cell phones lying around, please bring them to help us raise money for homeless youth in Jacksonville.
