Our strong cold front is in the Ohio & Tennessee Valley's & -- while producing lots of showers & storms -- will "dry up" as the front races through our area Thu.
We'll see clouds but just a few showers. Frontal timing will make for a wide range of temps. across the area. Clouds & a few showers will move into Waycross & Lake City pretty early in the morning where temps. will not likely get out of the 60s...the day will start with some sun from Brunswick to Jax to G'ville allowing for temps. to reach well into the 70s by lunchtime but then clouds & a few showers will arrive & that'll drop temps. into the 60s by later in the afternoon....to the south -- near St. Augustine, Penney Farms & Palatka -- plenty of morning sun won't be followed by clouds & a few showers until later in the day so temps. will top
out close to 80.
The entire area will be much cooler Thu. night into Fri. Highs Fri. will only be in the upper 50s to low 60s! Lows Fri. night will plunge into the 30s & there will likely be some frost inland -- Blackshear, Waycross, Nahunta, Folkston, Fargo, Homerville, Lake City, Sanderson, Macclenny, Raiford, Ft. White, Starke & possibly G'ville.
Still looking like a nice weekend though.
Thu. -- Nov. 15th -- is "America Recycles Day". The website listed below is pretty cool. Put in your zip code & places that will accept recyclables near you will pop up. This includes oil, paint, batteries & other potentially toxic material that can be difficult to dispose of & downright dangerous if not discarded properly.
Earth Gauge: Savvy Recycling
Oil and natural gas prices are at record highs and abnormally dry or drought conditions are affecting nearly half the country, meaning that many people have energy and water conservation in mind. While often overlooked, recycling common household materials can have a big impact on energy and water use. Recycling also means that less land is needed to store our garbage.
Tip: In 2005, Floridians recycled about 25 percent of their waste. November 15th is "America Recycles Day" -- toss these household items into your recycling bin for big environmental benefits:
Paper: Recycling one ton of paper saves 7,000 gallons of water, 17 trees, 3 cubic yards of landfill space, and enough energy to power an average home for five months.
Aluminum: Recycling just one can saves the amount of energy needed to power a computer for three hours, or run a 100-watt lightbulb for 20 hours.
Plastic: 95 percent less energy is used to make a plastic item from recycled materials than new materials.
