One More Windy Day... "Noel"... Jax Ag. Fair... Cloud Streets... Oct. #'s... Nov. Avg's.

o.k......one more day of wind!  Enough already, right?  "Noel" will miss the First Coast by hundreds of miles moving by well to the east during the day Fri. but will be close enough to keep us windy Fri.  One big difference will be that winds take on a more north/northeast component so -- though still strong -- the winds won't be as perpendicular (onshore) but rather more parallel.  The big break comes over the weekend when winds will calm considerably from the north/northwest.
And more good news: a chance to dry out.  I see no significant rainfall for at least the next 7 days -- into at least the middle of next week.
And "Noel", by the way, will become a huge, powerful extratropical ocean storm the next few days while racing north/northeast over the far Western Atlantic.  This will be a beach battering from the Carolinas to Maine with especially strong winds by Sat. from D.C. to New York City to Boston where there could be significant airport delays.
Our annual Jacksonville Agricultural Fair is underway & will continue through a week from Sun. -- Nov. 11th.  And we'll have great fair weather for many days in a row.  Cool (even chilly) nights but sunny, mild days.
Check out the photo below of "cloud streets" sent by Ozzie Naveira of Lake City, FL.  These peculiar clouds develop when the atmosphere is stable but there's enough mid level moisture to allow stratocumulus clouds to form.  The clouds are parallel to one another lined up by mid level winds -- usually just about perfectly spaced (due to the stable airmass) like rows of streets in a city.

October is "in the books".  It was a warm month with an avg. temp. of 73.7 degrees -- 4.3 degrees above avg.  A few Florida stations had their warmest Oct. on record.  Rainfall was also story with many areas experiencing a much wetter than avg. Oct. -- good news considering the long-term drought conditions.  The Southside had 20"+!  Officially at the Int'l. Airport 8.85", a full 4.99" above the avg. of 3.86".  Other rainfall reports:
